Power Of Hijacking

Key Scripture:  "We don't reduce Christ to what we are; he raises us up to what He is."  1 Corinthians 10, The Message
"We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity."  2 Corinthians 10, The Message
Power Point:
It's a pretty daunting thought to think about being hijacked isn't it?  A few weeks after 9/11 occurred, I found myself on a plane headed to New York City with a group of other Christians to lend our support to that stunned city. It was impossible not to think about what the hostages on that plane must have felt as we made our approach.  There was dead silence on that plane as we circled what were once two strong towers and where now smoke was rising from their ashes. Those men and women were filled with purpose as they began their day and suddenly found themselves hijacked and held hostage.
The other day I was praying in the Spirit and suddenly I found my thoughts had been hijacked. I was focusing on irritation or anger or negative thoughts about someone and having this entire conversation with them.  When I finally realized what was happening, I quickly took back control. When planes are hijacked, the people on board become hostages.  They are held against their wills.  When we let our thoughts be hijacked, we too become hostages to the Enemy of our souls.
Our minds, our wills, and our emotions are held captive by his determination to destroy us and the work of God in our lives.  We are still God's children, chosen and beloved by Him but we let the Enemy hijack His plans and purposes for us.

I have a friend who became an alcoholic several years ago.  He's in his 40's now and has pretty much made life miserable for everyone he knows for all that time. As a child, he had a wonderful experience with the Lord. Two days ago he entered a Christian rehab facility. Last night he was sent to the ER because of seizures related to the detox of all that poison in his system.  He was hijacked by the Enemy. When he was interviewed for admission, he told the man he was an alcoholic.  The director said, "Son, we don't say that here.  You are becoming a new man with God in your life.  That is your new identity."
Beloved, we have a new identity too.  The Resurrection Power of Jesus is IN us in all its glory.  Don't let the Devil dance in God's space.  Don't let him hijack your thought life.  Don't let him cut down the plans and purposes that God has for you. Jesus has given you a way of escape.  His promises, His words of encouragement, His Spirit in you are all working together to bring new growth to the new man.  The old one is dead and buried. It can't keep you hostage any more.
Today the branches that have been pruned will sprout with NEW growth as you turn your attention to Him.  Knowing who you are in Him, and who He is for you, will cause the new man to grow taller and stronger. The Devil will always try to steal, kill, and destroy. It's his nature. He will inject chaos into your peace, offenses into your relationships, and guilt into your standing before Your Father. Your Father, on the other hand, has destroyed his power over you.  He's given you all the tools you need to prosper and grow up in kingdom life. It's His nature and it's your choice to accept that.
When you find your thought life being hijacked from now on, take back the controls.  You are not a hostage, you are not a victim and you are not subject to the Enemy.
Hold your ground. It is YOUR ground that God has given you.  "Fit every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ." Come out of the old and into the NEW.  And stay there.
Power Thought:
Don't let the devil dance in God's space.  Push him back, push him back, WAY back!
