Power Of The Sweet Smell of Success

Key Scripture:  "For we are His masterpiece.  He has created us "new" in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10, NLT

Power Point:
When I was with my family recently, my son David said something that was very insightful.  He had allowed his son, JD, to take his own computer next door to the neighbor’s house so that they could play some of their games on it.  Kim was very surprised and said so. He said, “I wanted to give him a chance to be successful.”  I felt that was pretty profound. (I guess he takes after his mom.)
Isn’t that a glorious example of what God does for us and what we can allow ourselves to do for others?
David’s computer is valuable to him. JD is ten but he is extremely responsible. When his dad allowed him to take that computer next door, he was receiving all the right signals from him that he was trustworthy, that he would make wise choices and protect something valuable to his dad. He will never forget the confidence that was placed in him. It will shine like a beacon on his path forever.  He may not remember the exact incident over the years, but knowing David, he will have a stockpile of experiences like that, which will build his sense of self and his ability to make good decisions.  Above all, it will help him to be deeply aware that his dad trusts him.
God does that for us every single day of our lives. He has given us the authority, the responsibility and the opportunity to bring His heaven to earth. He has entrusted us with his Holy Spirit, something that is priceless to Him. Every morning we have the privilege of knowing that God believes in us and He trusts us to do the right thing. Every day He gives us the chance to be successful. We get to learn how to move in that incredible “new” life that He has given us with the same tools that helped Jesus bring the “new” to earth.
I guess you could say He was succeeded.
Success doesn’t mean perfection. It doesn’t mean you will do it right every time. When people try and fail it doesn’t mean that they won’t ever be successful, they are on a journey to success.  Don’t you think you’ve grown from the mistakes you’ve made? And doesn’t it make you more determined to “do it right” the next time?  When you fail, God doesn’t begin to wring His hands and fall apart. He knew it all along. He still believes in you. He's calling the end in from the beginning remember?  Today you’ll have another opportunity from Him to be trust-worthy, and to succeed. Will you be responsible, as JD was? Will you offer to others the encouragement to succeed as David did?
As you open your eyes today to a fresh start and a "new" day, isn’t it a comfort to know that God trusts you? Isn’t it awesome to think about the opportunities ahead of you and the power of His Spirit in you to succeed?
Right before Jesus was crucified, He told Peter that Peter would betray Him.  Then He says, “I have prayed for you, that your faith shall not fail and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”  (Luke 22:32) It seemed that Peter failed; yet his faith did not fail. He did return to Jesus and his whole life was one of strengthening others. Do you think He remembered that Jesus believed in him?
Can we offer that great encouragement to ourselves and to others today? What an incredible gift!
Can we believe, as Jesus did, that even though mistakes are on our path, so are successes?
We just need to trust Him and trust ourselves to get to the right place don’t we?  Don’t stop at the mistakes, in yourself or in someone else.  Remember, God is moving heaven and earth for us, encouraging us to be successful, because He trusts you with all He has given you.

Power Thought:
"Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seeds of either success or failure in the mind of another."
