Power Of Freedom
Key Scripture: "Christ has set us free to live a free
life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on
you.” Galatians 5:1, The Message
Power Point:
Recently I watched a video of two elephants that had been separated
for 20 years and were reunited in an animal sanctuary. It was obvious that they
remembered each other and were so excited to be together again.. One had been chained all that time. You can see the effects of the chain on her leg. It was hard to watch but for
some reason God gave me the grace. Her
keeper wept when he delivered her to the sanctuary. He kept saying, "She won't have to wear
a chain anymore." To see her begin to enjoy her freedom was a beautiful
thing. Observing the two of them playing
in the water and to see the now free elephant
lie down in the water for the first time in her life was total joy.
In the past few weeks, the Lord has broken off
a chain that has held me captive for a long time. The interesting thing is that when the chains
are
broken, you have to learn how to walk in freedom. You have to learn to stop reacting to life's
situations in the same old way and learn to respond as a new creation. You are no longer bound to the old thought
life and old manner of action. Last night an incident happened that would have
sent me into a tailspin a week or so ago.
I began to react, and then realised, I was no longer bound to that
reaction. The chain on my heart had been
removed and I was free to respond in the power of the Spirit without fear or
anxiety. I could hear God's voice above
the storm. I was free.
Beloved,
the anointing of God is upon us to break every yoke,, every chain. It's not a lofty spiritual theology-it's the
truth. If your emotions are yoked to
anger, or fear, or bitterness, or unworthiness, those chains were broken when
the Holy Spirit of God came to live in you. Are you still walking as though
you were chained? This liberty you have
now depends entirely on whether you choose to walk in the freedom Jesus gave
you. You can choose to stay chained,
even though you are free. The Spirit in
you has the power to transform every thought, and break the yoke of whatever is
holding you back.
Can you imagine Jesus's delight when He broke
your chains? Will you honor Him today by walking in the freedom He died to give
you? You are free from
everything that held you down before. His sacrifice, and His Truth have done
that for you.
Like Shirley the elephant, we can begin to truly
enjoy our freedom. We can enjoy being
free to reign in life.
Will you try it today?
