Key Scripture: A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve
years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind
Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.
“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.” Luke
8:43-45, NLT
Power Point:
My prayer group is studying the spiritual gifts. We are on the “gift of healing” now. As I was thinking about this I realized that all the spiritual gifts are the vehicle God has given to bring His heart to the world. Those gifts are His way of being "with us". God doesn’t have to choose to decide to heal someone or not. It's a gift He offers us. He IS healing. He IS the Healer. Healing just emanates from Him all the time. If I snuggled up close to Him, it would spill all over me. The same is true of love, or joy or peace or kindness or gentleness. It’s who He is. Why is there no need for healing in heaven? Because it’s His realm-His rules apply. There is no evil, no sin, no disease, no unkindness, or strife or anger. Heaven is an extension of His heart. Therefore what exists there is His perfect will. Isn’t that a relief? We do not ever need to wonder if He desires to heal us. He has made that abundantly clear. In fact, when Jesus walked the earth that was His assignment, to heal ALL who were oppressed by the devil because God had anointed Him to do just that. God was with Him.
In Matthew 9:20 a woman presses through the crowd to reach out and touch the hem of His garment. As she does, she is instantly healed. Even Jesus clothes emanated the will of God for the people. The “hem” was covered with tassels, which reminded them of God’s law. Can you imagine for a moment what that must have looked like? Everywhere in the streets, as people walked, those tassels swung as the garment moved with each step. Everywhere they looked the people were reminded of God’s Word to them. It represented the God Who healed them. When that woman touched Jesus, healing was flowing from Him to such a degree that her healing was instantaneous. Jesus asked, ”Who touched me?”. God was with Him.
He gave His children gifts to carry to the world so that they might see Who He is and touch Him for themselves. That’s our job Beloved, to use the gifts that He left us to bring heaven to earth.
We have the incredible privilege of taking God to the world. We are anointed to destroy burdens and break yokes just like Jesus because God is with us. We have the power, through the gifts, to be a carrier of who He is and what He wills. We should get busy, don’t you think?
Power Thought:
The spiritual gifts are God's gifts
to the world through us.
