Power Point:
It’s
the day when everyone is thinking about Love. Make that L-O-V-E! It’s in the air and everywhere. When you
sit back and really think about it, some of the way that the world thinks love
should be expressed are candy, diamonds, and flowers and dinner out with just
the two of you. Those are all
great things. I’m in favor of all of them.
God’s
view of love is a bit different.
He’s a great example. Remember Jesus walking through the streets of
Jerusalem? That was love. The thing is, when we think about how Christ loves
us, it’s a hard act to follow isn’t it-at least it would be without the His
loving Spirit within us.
He
defines Christian love this way, walk just like Jesus did. He gave Himself to us and for us. And He always offered people His grace.
He
gave us the keys to life and the power to use them. He made sacrifices for us. Big ones.
Then
he always expects the best for us and from us. That’s a really important
thought. If you’ve ever had a friend or a relative that always expects the
worst of you, it can be pretty daunting can’t it? God expects the best because
He knows that when you are in partnership with Him, all things are possible.
So on
this great day of love, will you make some sacrifices for the people in your
life? Will you reach out God’s hands and heart to heal and make people whole?
Will you give kind words to someone who needs them even if they don’t deserve
them?
Will
you put on those walking shoes, walk in love, just like Jesus?
Power Thought:
Love is
in the air today. God’s love is in
the air every day. Have you told Him lately that you love Him?
