Key Scripture: “I desire mercy.” Hosea 6:6
“Mercy
triumphs over judgment.” James
2:13
“For
to him who has shown no mercy the judgment will be merciless; but mercy, (full
of glad confidence) exults victoriously over judgment.” Amplified Bible
“For if you refuse to act kindly, you can
hardly expect to be treated kindly.
Kind mercy wins over harsh judgment every time.” The Message
Power Point:
In
every part of His relationship with us, God offers mercy. Every word He speaks
to us comes from a foundation of mercy. Mercy is help, acceptance, favor, and
grace when we least deserve it. Grace is help, acceptance, favor and mercy when
we least deserve it. His mercy fails not! Ever. We’re greeted each morning with
a hearty “Hi Beloved! It’s great to see you! How can I help?” He doesn’t drag
our sins from yesterday into today and we shouldn’t either. In fact He offers
us divine forgetfulness of our mistakes and help for our future. That’s His
plan.
On
the other hand, He expects us to do the same for others. You know that person
who has hurt you, disappointed you, rejected you, or who has been mean to you? You may
have “hit your knees” crying out to Him, ‘What is your will God?” His will is
mercy and grace. No
exceptions. It’s your job to bring
heaven to earth, not earth to earth.
It’s
so easy to bring earth to earth isn’t it? After all, your best friend tells you
that you are justified in being hurt so of course, it must be so. Your prayer
buddies tell you that we need “to pray for them so that they can see the error
of their ways”. The unfortunate thing about earthly wisdom though is that it
doesn’t bring heaven into your situation. It just brings more earth. You probably don't need that. You can be as mad and as hurt as you
wanna be but you’ll just reap the results of that choice. According to James
2:13 from that point on you yourself can hardly expect to be treated kindly.
You will reap what you sow Beloved. Wouldn’t you rather reap mercy and grace?
Me too! Do you need to pray for them? Yes. Definitely. But our prayers are from the perspective of bringing His grace and mercy to them and to us.
I
know it’s hard sometimes. I’ve been there, believe me, but my own personal
testimony is that mercy and grace work. It not only blesses the “offender”, it
blesses you with the peace of God that passes all understanding. From that
place, rich with God’s presence, grace and mercy flow easily, and heaven comes
down and glory fills your soul.
That’s
a pretty good trade-off don’t you think?
Power Thought:
Are you
bringing heaven to earth, or earth to earth?
