Key Scripture:
“He who promised is faithful.”
Hebrews 10:23
"If we are faithless, (do not believe and are untrue to Him), he remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself." II Timothy 2:13
Power Point:
One of the most
wonderful underlying characteristics of God is His faithfulness. It’s part of
what makes Him so good! And it’s part of the reason we don’t understand Him.
You see God is “faithful to the bone”. He simply can’t be UN-faithful. The problem for us today is that we
don’t really have a model of faithfulness do we? The news headlines scream with
the unfaithfulness in our society. Our politicians are “unfaithful” to their
call. IF they marry, people are being increasingly “unfaithful” to their vows.
I’ve even heard of children divorcing their parents. Good grief!
The word for
“faithful” in the Old Testament is defined as “to support, confirm, and nourish.” It is pictured as a nurse or a parent carrying a child. If
you’ve ever seen a mom or day cuddling their baby, that’s the perfect picture
of faithfulness. It is one who supports or carries a child, one who guards and
brings up, sustains and nourishes,
To be faithful is to
be trustworthy and sure so that anyone can lean upon you, anywhere, or
anytime. That’s the perfect
picture that God wants to convey to you today of His faithfulness to you.
Psalm 19:8 says His
Word is faithful.
II Thess. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful who shall establish you and keep you from evil.
Heb. 10:23. He is faithful who promised.
I John 1:9 if we
confess our sins. He is faithful to forgive.
Rev. 19:11 His very
name is “Faithful and True”
His love is faithful. It has no conditions for
termination. It just is. His kindness is faithful.
It would never occur to Him to be unkind.
His guidance is faithful. He
would never leave you on your own. His provision is always faithful. He promises to provide
faithfully. His power is faithful.
When you need it, it’s yours.
God is the most supportive, affirming, confirming, and
nourishing Person ever. There’s never been anyone like Him. God makes it very
clear that He hates divorce. It is the very picture of unfaithfulness. I’m pretty sure He means divorce of any
kind. Divorce simply means separation from faithfulness. Divorce is when we choose
to be UN-faithful to a vow that we’ve made. We are representing a character
quality that He hasn’t got anywhere in His body, (well, you know what I mean).
Faithful is who He is. He is unwavering in His belief in us and He is
consistently, determinedly loyal. And Beloved, it’s the quality that He is
developing in us. He wants us to be consistently, determinedly loyal to the
people in our lives as well. We are to be the “poster child” for faithfulness
in our families, at our places of work, in our churches; everywhere we go.
He’s not looking for a faithful
few. He is looking for every one of His children to be supportive,
encouraging, and nourishing. Do we need to “Change UP?
Power Thought:
Faithfulness is the foundation of Who God is. Shouldn’t it
be ours as well?
