Power Of Being Under His Wings

Key Scripture:  “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will take refuge.”  Psalms 91:4

     Psalm 91 is a favorite passage for many people.  I know it’s always been one of mine. This morning I was meditating on it and I saw something fresh in my understanding of it. 

     Try picturing a mama bird; her babies tucked safely under her wings. Storms may come and winds may blow but those babies are not concerned. They’re covered with her feathers. As I thought about that, I realized that Psalm 91 is a beautiful picture of the dove of Holy Spirit.

If we are tucked under His wings what will we find? Here are a few things to remember:

Under His wings is a place of peace, faith, joy, patience, power, love and gentleness. Under His wings I can anticipate only good things.  Under His wings I can expect healing and rest.

Under His wings I will find the Truth that will set me free.

Under His wings I will never be afraid because I know He will keep me.

Under His wings I am safe.

Under His wings I am comforted as I am reminded Who God is and Who He wants to be for me.

Under His wings I experience complete and perfect Love.

Under His wings I know that when I whisper, He answers; when I am sad, He comforts and when I cry He wipes my tears.

Under His wings, I know He is with me to deliver me and to honor me.

Under His wings, I live long and strong.

     Being under His wings was exactly the position Jesus died to give us. It’s a place in Him where we view things differently. You do not fear. In the safety of that place, you are calm and your soul responds to His presence and that changes your responses and your reactions to your situation.

     If you’re having a tough time today why not just think about the peaceful, powerful place that God offers you through His Holy Spirit? Under His wings is a place of hope and of trust. In Psalm 57:1, David says, “Be good to me, God,-and now!  I've run to you for dear life. I'm hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over. I call out to the God who holds me together. He sends orders from heaven and saves me..."

    Under His wings you will hope again. After all, He is a God who eternally offers us hope and comfort and power to win over all the power of the enemy.

   I always loved tucking my children under the blankets at bedtime. We both felt safe.  Is it time to tuck yourself in under His wings?

Power Thought:

Feeling safe begins with your mindset.  Where is your mind set today? Where will you hide out?

Power Of Almost

KEY SCRIPTURE: “Give freely and spontaneously.  Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God, your God’s blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures…So I command you, Always be generous, open purse and hands.”  Deuteronomy 15:11

POWER POINT:

     It’s a beautiful day here even though its cold. I was a little late putting out the fresh bread, bird seed and peanuts for all the “critters” at my house. I am amazed at how much I was totally unaware of all the creatures around my house, until I began to feed them. They wait for me every morning around the same time. I can hear the crows complaining if I’m late. Within minutes of my closing the door, life comes to life with a flurry.  Before, I was oblivious to them, now I know that they rely on me for their food and water.  It’s my job.

     Yesterday I participated in an event to raise money to build wells all over the world for people who have no water.  Unless somebody helps them they will never have clean water. The picture I can’t get out of my mind is that of a woman in Haiti, trying to dig with her own hands to bring up the water out of the ground. I bet her nails were broken and dirty. She's desperate. If she doesn’t do that, her little girls will have to walk miles each day in dangerous territory to get enough water to survive.  The thing is, before I knew about it, I never thought about it.  I was oblivious. Now I’m accountable for what I know.

Sometimes we can be aware of things and intend to help and perhaps we almost do something to help but we get distracted or we begin to think, “Maybe I should save that money. I might need it.” Have I made you feel guilty enough yet?

Beloved, God has more than enough money but some of it is in our pockets.

     We have been taught to worry about our future.( Have you ever come away from a newscast smiling? ) In the Kingdom of God, that’s not allowed, because in the Kingdom of God, God is our Provider and He’s not stingy.  In the Kingdom of God, the more we give the bigger our supply gets. 

     Almost.  That means we were thinking about helping and then we didn’t. We came close but not close enough.  We nearly helped. We almost gave. But then we got the mistaken impression that it was our money. Oops. If some of God’s money is in our pockets, shouldn’t we at least ask Him what He wants us to do with it and then do it?

     My friend Janet began a group of cheerful “well-diggers” a few years ago called “The Widow’s Mite Experience”. They put on all kinds of functions and  encourage other women to give so that they can have the joy of building wells for God where He wants to build them.  My son, David is active in an organization called, “Feed My Starving Children”. I'm so proud of them.  Both Janet and David have visited other countries and seen the starving and thirsty families there who need God’s pockets to be emptied out. My son has pictures of people who stand in line for MILES to get food for their families. Janet and David are no longer oblivious to those faces.  They’re engraved on their hearts. They are not passing by anymore.

    Beloved, we are part of God’s relief plan. We are representing Him and His kingdom. We are the ones who are chosen to be part of the family business that brings heaven to earth. What a privilege.  What a partnership!

     I have been so guilty at times of almost doing something. Haven’t you? I thought about it.  I meant to.  But something happened and I didn’t. I’m changing that.  How about you?

  Yesterday ladies bid at an auction and bought purses they probably didn’t need at prices they couldn’t believe. The truth is they weren’t buying purses- they were taking God’s money out of their pockets to buy fresh water. I was proud of them. And so was He. They didn't almost do it, they did it.  Good for them!  Well done.

Power Thought:

God has deep pockets.  Is some of His money in yours? Are you the one with the key to bring heaven to earth for someone today? Will you be the somebody for somebody?

I’ve never done this before but I wanted to give you an opportunity to fill two very worthy ministry pockets today with God’s supply for food and water.

Power Of What's UP!

Key Scripture:  “Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you.  LOOK UP!”  Colossians 3:1,2, The Message

So what’s UP in your life today?  Are your thoughts UP? Is your faith UP? Is the anointing of Holy Spirit stirred UP in you? Is His power in you turned UP? How about your encounters with God?  Are they on the UPswing? Are you growing UP in grace, and love, and peace?  Are you taking your place in the kingdom of God? Are you moving UP?

Beloved, that’s the plan. It’s been the plan from the beginning. God has created a garden in us that needs to bear fruit and multiply. In the original Garden of Eden all those years ago, He created everything to be under our dominion. He created each day to be full of life. He planned to walk with us “in the cool of the day” and from that place, we could go and complete our assignments. We could go forth and be fruitful and multiply. Part of His blessing to us was to go and be filled. I love the definition of that word! It means “fill and fulfill”.  It’s the idea of filling something to the brim, causing it to be thoroughly saturated. It’s also the idea of fulfilling your word; to declare that you will do something and then to do it. God promises to fill all the earth with the awareness of His glory, and His glorious gift to us is to be filled (thoroughly saturated) with His Spirit.   In Ex. 31:3 He says about Bezalel, “I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and all understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of wisdom.” Bezalel had a part in God’s plan. He was already filled and prepared.  So are you.
In Romans Paul says, “Be FILLED (saturated and fulfilled) with the Spirit”. Why? So that the garden in your heart can keep growing UP; so that you can go forth, bear fruit, multiply and live in the blessing of God.

So what’s UP?

     On the other hand, what’s down?  The devil is lower than a snake. In Genesis 1:26 God says, “Let’s make man just like Us! And let’s put him in charge of EVERYTHING; over the fish, the birds, the cattle, over all the earth and over every creepy thing."  (Suzanne translation.) What are the creepy things that are slithering into your garden and stealing the blessings that Jesus died to give you? Is bitterness UP? Or unforgiveness? Or fear? How can you change that?

     You can choose to think UP! His promises could be UPpermost in your mind couldn’t they?  Thoughts about His faithfulness and His goodness could be UP couldn’t they?

     If you think about it, whenever God spoke, things jumped to attention and eagerly responded. Can you wrap your mind around the fact that because Jesus took dominion over every creepy thing, and restored the original plan? YOU have the same authority that Adam and Eve did. YOU can choose to be FILLED and FRUIT-Full every single day of your life.

     So? What’s UP?

     The lord gave me something the other day which I’d like to offer as good incentive to Think UP!

Every day you DON’T do something, it doesn’t get done.  Ah.

What you think on continuously in your heart comes out in your life.

What you do not receive from God, never gets to bear fruit.

    

     God said, “Let us make man in OUR image." He’s still doing that through the power of His Holy Spirit. He’s making us more lovable and more loving; more patient and kind. He’s restored our dominion authority. If we walk with Him in the cool of the day, if we speak what He tells us to speak, we are declaring that dominion, and we speak blessing and we live in the blessing of God.  And that’s how our garden grows UP.

His words never return void. Ours shouldn’t either if we’re hearing, thinking and speaking UP what He’s given us authority to say.

     So, what’s UP? He is and you are if you are in Him.

YOU be fruitful and multiply. You be thoroughly saturated and take dominion over every creepy thing.
