Power Of His Mind

Key Scripture: “For we have the mind of Christ.”  I Corinthians 2:26
Power Point:
It just boggles the mind doesn’t it?  When You “received” Jesus, when you asked Him to become Lord of your life, He did.  Jesus forever connected you to His own heavenly Father.  Wherever you go, whatever you do, God is with you.  His “take” on things is available to you.  That should change everything shouldn’t it?
How does God work that out? He changes your mind. Your thoughts are not your own anymore.  You might find yourself thinking higher thoughts that transform you.  You find yourself in a situation that you’ve probably been in a hundred times before and you think differently.  You hear a different voice offering a different solution. Beloved, God doesn't change so somebody has to! I think its us.
I can remember when I first became a Christian, I could swear like a sailor. Yes, even me.  It was the “norm” in my family.  It never occurred to me to ‘think about it”, those words just came out of my mouth. I thought everyone did that.  Within a few weeks, I realized that those words never occurred to me anymore.  When I heard someone else say them, it bothered me.
He really did put a “new” song in my mouth!
As time has passed He’s also given me a whole new way of thinking.  My friend Julie and I were talking the other day about the gracious way He transforms us.  Looking back over the last forty or so years I can see that He has taken those old limited thoughts, those old habits, those old ways of looking at things and transformed them. How? By Words. To be exact, by HIS Words, His thoughts. In my heart.  In MY mind.  In MY mouth.
How refreshing!
In order to prove that God’s will is good, and acceptable and perfect, our thoughts have to come from the One who is Good and Acceptable and Perfect. When Paul tells us that we have the mind of Christ, he’s not saying that
everything we think is of God. Judgment, complaining, and criticism are definitely not of Him. WE will come to the place where they don't occur to us anymore.  He’s saying that we have the privilege of knowing what and how God thinks. We have the option of thinking higher, and thus seeing higher results in our lives.
Jesus said that out of our mouths flow the issues of life. If we’re thinking differently, then we should be speaking differently shouldn’t we? In order to bring God thoughts into our lives, then we need to listen to Him don’t we?
Usually I’ve found that I will be reading something in His word and it will catch my attention. I begin to think about it.  I begin to apply it to my life.
Without fail, I’ll find myself in a situation where that “word” applies. As Isaiah says, “I’ll hear a word behind me and I begin to walk in it.” Or as I John says, “You have an anointing from the Holy One and you know all things.”  Wow. Really? Does that go along with the counsel from James, which says, “ask for wisdom, and He’ll give it to you generously.’? What does that look like?  His thoughts will always be, first of all pure and clean. It’s like turning the light on in your mind.  His thoughts will always be peaceable, and gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits.  They will bring peace to your mind, and to your situation.
Sometimes God speaks to us audibly. Sometimes He speaks to us through His word, but He’s always speaking. He’s always trying to help us think His thoughts.  Each day I bind my thoughts to the mind of Christ. I really don’t want to think any other thoughts. I don’t want any results in my life except the results that’s God’s wisdom can bring.  True power, true transformation comes when you begin to think like He thinks. Real change comes from within our minds and God gives us every opportunity to make sure our minds are filled with God thoughts that bring Life and Light, and Hope. They bring faith, love and possibilities for the goodness of God to explode in ourlives.
You were happy to receive forgiveness of your sins when you asked Jesus into your life weren’t you?  Are you happy to receive the thoughts of God as well? They could change everything! Thank Goodness!
Power Thought:
Are you brave enough to ask God what HE thinks you should do?  What a good idea!

Power Of Food For Thought

Key Scripture:  “This One thing I desire…” Psalm 27:4
Power Point:
How do you plan your day?  How do you face your problems?  What did you learn this morning that blesses you about your position as a child of God?
Did you take the time?  Did you MAKE the time?
"Busy" is the best description of this generation isn’t it?  I look at my son and his wife and wonder how they do it all and still find time to be with the Lord.  But they do.  I remember when my children were small, I thought it was impossible to be any busier, but today there has been an exponential growth in busy-ness.
In Proverbs 4, we’re told that The Word will bring health to all our flesh. The Word?  The Word brings life and health? Really? I thought if I concentrated totally on eating properly, I would be healthy. But the Word says that The Word digested brings me health.  That means that I can exercise every day and eat only the most awesome foods, yet real life comes when I allow the Word to change my heart.  And the heart, is where the real issues of life spring out. I can be as physically fit as it is possible to be yet if my “heart” is not fit through The Word, I will still be missing one very important thing.
Joshua must have been a pretty fit individual don’t you think?  He walked and exercised, carrying those heavy weapons of the time. The children of Israel  ate wonderful foods and were able to walk long miles and fight long battles. In fact, there “was not one feeble among them.”  (Psalms 105:37). Yet as he was getting ready to lead the children of Israel into the promised land, the Lord gave Joshua these words of instruction:  “Be sure you lift weights today. Make sure you do your aerobics for thirty minutes.”  Wait!  That’s NOT what He said.  He said, “Meditate and study on My Words day and night.  Be sure to obey everything I’ve said. Only then will you prosper and have good success.  Only then will you be able to be strong and have courage.” (Suzanne version).
Beloved, there is nothing wrong with exercise and healthy eating.  It is a WONDERFUL way of taking care of God’s temple, but it’s not the only way. The Psalmist said, “This ONE thing I’m asking.  I want to live every day of my life with You.  I ‘ll contemplate Your beauty, I’ll study at Your feet.  That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, the perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic.” (The Message).
Have you been looking for the “perfect getaway”?  I’ve got good news for you and it won’t cost you a penny.  Do the ONE thing that will bring you prosperity and good success. Study at His feet. Contemplate how beautiful He is.  And let it be the ONE thing you do every day. Everything else will pale in comparison to the benefits of spending time with Him. Let His Words dwell richly inside you so that your life becomes a manifestation of all that Jesus, The Living Word, died to give you and offers to you every day.
I read this story today about George Mueller. I offer it to you as food for thought:
"George Muller, who lived in the 1800's cared fro more than 2000 orphans in his five large orphanages.  But he never allowed his huge responsibility to take him away from the Word of God.  He said that every day, he would set aside time to study the scriptures until his inner man was happy in the Lord.  Once Muller met a man who worked between 14 and 16 hours every day.  He told the man, "You are destroying your health.  You don't have time for your family and, most importantly, you don't have time to nourish your inner man with the Word of God."
The man replied, " I hear you, but I can't see how I can cut down my working hours and spend time in the Word because even with the 14-16 hours I put in each day, I still can't put enough bread on the table for my family."
As the man walked away, Muller said, "He doesn't believe that if he gives time to God's Word first, God will take care of all His needs."

Power Thought:
What is the ONE thing you will do today that will change your life?

Jesus said, “Only one thing is needful and Mary has chosen the good part.”  Will you choose “the good part” today?

Power Of Good News

Key Scripture: I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, it is the power of God to me.”  Romans 5:5
Power Point:
I love good news.  I love good surprises, don’t you? I guess that’s why when I really discovered that the “gospel” was “GOOD” news I got really excited. It gave me hope. The good news is God’s powerful promise that He will protect you, honor you and deliver you.  It is His heart of love toward you. It means that He never wants you to be disappointed in what He has promised. It means that He never wants you to be ashamed of Who He is.  It means that whatever the devil has stolen, God will restore and repay far above and beyond all that you could ask or think. He really is an amazing Person.
His GOOD Promises, His GOOD Character, His GOOD Will toward you are always there to deliver, preserve, keep, make you sound and strong in body, mind, and soul.  It is His Good News that touches your finances, blesses you with an abundance of wisdom to live your life  that results in your happiness.  It is profoundly good news that promises God’s rescue and attention to every detail.
I’m often surprised that some people treat the gospel as bad news.
I see people who have God’s love being poured out to them and yet their faces are always downcast.  They are always grumpy about God.  They believe that He is out to get them, to make them shape up. They live their lives with such an abundance of rules and regulations that its no wonder they’re grumpy! They believe that everything is a test with Him.
They can quote James with the best of them and yet they miss the “joy” part. Tests come from the enemy to destroy us but tests also come from our Father to establish in us what He has promised to us. The GOOD news is that when the enemy comes to destroy you, God's GOOD promises become your weapon of choice.

The words “I will not be ashamed of the Gospel, the GOOD news” has been a daily declaration from my heart for years. It is my testimony.  It is my promise from God. The word “ashamed” also means disappointed. In Romans 5:5 it says,“hope does not disappoint”. Why? Because the Love of God, the GOOD will of God is always pursuing the highest possible good for us.  It HAS BEEN poured out for us by the His Holy Spirit.  Do you really understand that God is FOR you?  Are you eager to find out more about the good, good, heart of God?
If you are, then do it!
We are not ashamed of the gospel Beloved, because it’s the power of God, for those who believe it!  I heard someone say the other day that they didn’t believe there was a God. That doesn’t change a thing does it? There IS a God. I've met Him! Your unbelief doesn’t change that, it simply cuts you off from the blessing of knowing Him.  I see Him at work every day because I believe that He wants to do that for me.
I will never be ashamed of the gospel because it’s good news. Whether or not you believe that He is good is vitally important to your life.  Your hope in Him will not be disappointed, but you have to believe that. You have to write it on your hands and arms as though you are preparing the right answers for a test.  You have to claim that promise, waive it in the air, stuff it in your thoughts, and believe it with all your heart in order for it to manifest in your life.
Beloved, are you HOPE-FULL or simply hopeful?
The end result depends on your answer. You will receive the reward of your faith.
"For the LORD GOD WILL help me, therefore I will not be confused; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and know that I will not be ashamed."  Is. 50:7
Your solid hope in the goodness of God is the anchor of your soul. Be sure you’ve planted it deeply.
Power Thought:
Do you believe that God is on your side? He is, whether you believe it or not. That's really good news.  Have you read it?

Power Of My Faith

Key Scripture: “There remains a rest for the people of God.”  Hebrews 4:9
Power Point:
The last few months have been busy and challenging.  I’ve had some Gethsemane moments and some Resurrection moments. I prefer Resurrection.  At any rate, one night I awoke to a presence of great fear. It surprised me because I had had a wonderful day with the Lord and been refreshed with His nearness.  Fortunately I knew what to do.  First I told fear to leave and then I informed the Enemy that he was going to be very sorry for waking me up because I was going to nestle into nest with My Father and begin declaring his defeat. Off I went with my Bible and my computer to ask the Lord what He would have me do, and Who He wanted to be for me in that place.
I could fully identify with the disciples in their little boat when everything seemed so overwhelming. So I did what they did. I woke Him up!  I said, “Jesus, don’t You see what’s going on here? Excuse me, but how can You sleep through this huge storm in my life? Don't you care?”  He stretched and grinned and got up and spoke a few words and the storm stopped. Whew! What a relief!  Then He looked at me and came very close and cupped my face in His hands and said,  Sweetheart, where is YOUR faith?”  He was not angry or condemning, He was simply challenging me to consider what had happened to my faith.
Don’t you find yourself in that situation at times?  The interesting thing about storms is that I find that when I’m in the middle of them, Holy Spirit has always prepared me before I get there. Just like Jesus in the wilderness, He's taught me how to use His power. He’s given me promises, He’s spent a lot of time in prayer with me, He’s stirred up His anointing for faith and then He steps back to see what I will do with all that.
Beloved, our Father wants to get us to the point where we do not always need Him to rescue us.  He wants us to place our faith in Him so that we can lie down beside Him in the back of the boat and take a nap while He works things out. He wants us to REST. In Him. In His goodness. In His presence. In His care. In His plans for us. When we don’t do that, we’re allowing fear, doubt and unbelief to dictate our future.
This last year has been a year of abundant grace and it has also been a year of learning to REST.  I’ve had my defining moment where I have told Him I’ll trust him no matter what. And I’ve had opportunities to prove it.
Is it remotely possible that in the middle of your muddle, Jesus is waiting for you to realize that you don’t need to be rescued again? Has He given you His word that you can REST in Him. You can use the tools He has given you; His name, the authority to calm every storm; the position to declare His favor, the wisdom to decide to experience the peace that passes understanding, and the anointing to know how to use it all.
Sometimes we just have to grow up into who we really are don’t we?  I don’t know about you, but in this “storm of the month”, I intend to grab my pillow and blanket and curl up beside Jesus in the back of the boat. I definitely need a nap!
Power Thought:
You can only sleep in a storm when you’re calm in the storm.
Sweetheart, where is YOUR faith? Has it gone to sleep?  Well, wake it UP!
