Power Of Thin Places

Key Scripture:
Power Point:
As Christians, it’s our job to bring heaven to earth isn’t it?  Usually we think about that in terms of miracles, or demonstrations of great power.  I believe that the greatest power that God gives us is to love as He loves and to honor those He honors.  Growing in Grace really includes growing in honor doesn’t it?  I've heard it said that every person has an angel accompanying them. I wonder if we would be quite so quick to condemn or judge or speak unkindly about people if we could see their angel.  It would be a reminder wouldn’t it- a reminder that God has His eye on them and cares for them.
What if we viewed every person as somebody’s son or daughter? What if we could see their value to God?  What if we were the ones to create a thin place for God’s kingdom to shine through into their lives?
I love the idea of a “thin place”. It’s a term I’ve heard Bill Johnson use. He says that we create thin places between heaven and earth so that His world can affect our world.  One of the ways we do that is by honoring others.  Bill puts it this way,Don’t think little of any person. Don’t allow your thought life to entertain, degrading, negative thoughts about how they lack value.”
Recently a dear friend was admitted to a rehab facility. There are nine of us who have been friends for many years. We began going to visit every week and encountered a very “testy” nurse.  No matter what we did, it seemed to set her off. A few days ago, three of the friends went with some flowers for Beth.  They heard the Holy Spirit whisper quietly, “Give them to the nurse.”
They followed instructions and went to her, gave her the flowers and apologized for any problems we had caused her.  Not surprisingly, she was stunned. They told her how much they appreciated her care for our Beth. They created a “thin place”.
I don’t know if you can see angels or not, but I know that they’re there.  Jesus said that each of His children has an angel that stands before the face of the Father. I suppose that means that you and I do too don’t you? If that's true, and of course it is, each child of God has an angel standing behind them. Why don't we ask God to let us see that angel, and be reminded that that person is valuable to Him. Let's remember to give value to what He values; to take care for what He takes care for, and to encourage everyone to know that they are valuable.
Do you remember the story of the the Pearl that was bought at great price?
The farmer sold everything he had in order to buy that pearl. Jesus gave everything he had for that person that you think lacks value.
Let's ask Him to bless us with His Higher Thoughts for them, and His words of grace to them.
By the way, did you know how valuable YOU area to ME? Thank you for continuing this journey with me. You bless me every day.
Power Thought:
"Don't think little of any person."  Create a thin place around them so heaven can invade their earth. Remember, there are no "little" people in God's eyes.
