Power of Coming and Going

Key Scripture:  “Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life.” Psalms 23,
The Message
Power Point:
Sometimes it’s a good idea just to look over your shoulder and take a glance at what’s behind you. For the child of God that’s an awesome thing to do because when you do you’ll only see God’s goodness and mercy following you.  In fact, the translation of the word “follow” in Psalms 23 means literally “to chase after and run you down”. Yes. It’s a very good thing to be pursued by God’s goodness don’t you think? And mercy? Well, for heaven’s sake, if mercy is the desire to remove distress from someone’s life and it’s chasing you down, well why wouldn’t we want to stop and let it catch up?
The perfect picture of God’s presence with His people is Psalm 139. David says, “I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too-your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful-I can’t take it all in.”
I love David’s heart. When you think about it for most of his life he was in some sort of battle, yet because he had such a heart for God, he never forgot to look for His protective presence.  Can’t you just see King David; glancing over his shoulder to be sure God was there. I love that! In these verses he is acknowledging that it is the presence of God, which secures him and makes him safe whether the enemy is in front of him or behind him. He is always enclosed in the protecting presence of God and chased by His goodness and mercy.
So are you Beloved.  You have been chosen to be protected, loved, and blessed with the mercy and grace of God every single moment of every single day of your life. Do you remember in Deuteronomy 28 where God promises that His blessings will “overtake” you?  In other words, His arms are long enough and strong enough that wherever you go, He can reach you with His blessings. He says, that you will be blessed whether you are coming in or going out. Did you know that the word blessing also means, “adored”. Wow! You are adored by your adoring heavenly Father with every step you take. He cannot do anything else because that’s Who He is, the Lover of your soul.
Power Thought:
He’s got you covered coming and going.  Good for Him and good for you!
