Power of "Leaving It!"

Key Scripture:  “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against any one, forgive him and let it drop-leave it, let it go-in order that Your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your own failings and shortcomings and let them drop.”
Power Point:
When we asked Christ to come into our hearts, we asked for forgiveness of our sins. He said “yes”.  When we received Holy Spirit into our spirits we received freedom from our sins and the power to live in that freedom. If you read through the New Testament, almost everything you read is about relationships. We are given so many wonderful words of wisdom about how to live free. And Beloved, we need to read them, remember them and write them on our hearts.  In any relationship there will be hiccups. God says work through them. Why? Because if you don’t they follow you into your tomorrows.
God is very serious about “love”. Seriously. If you think about it relationships involve unconditional love, patience, unity, kindness, honor, honesty, and all those things we are normally not good at by ourselves. A major key to the exercise of those qualities is forgiveness.
There are some very strong cautions to us about forgiveness. Forgiveness is showing mercy. Forgiveness is living in freedom. Forgiveness is bringing heaven to earth.
In Mark 11:25, Jesus says that we should pray but that we should remember that it’s not all about asking God for things, He says, “If you have anything against anyone, forgive, -because only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins. (The Message). Yikes!
To forgive someone is to let something drop-to leave it, let it go. I guess I need to repeat that, “Let IT go!” My daughter Stefanie is a dog trainer. One of the commands that she teaches is the command to “leave it!” It’s important because your dog might at some time be near something that could cause it harm. If your dog has learned his command properly, he will “leave it” and whatever could be a potential threat is no longer a threat. When Jesus tells us to forgive He is telling us to “leave it!” If we are wise, we will do just that. If we are foolish, we won’t.
Power Thought:
Unforgiveness keeps you locked up inside. Forgiveness sets you free. Forgiveness brings heaven to earth.
