Powering Up America!

Key Scripture:  I know the plans I have for you, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  Jeremiah 29:11-13
Power Point:
When the pilgrims came to America, they left the rule of a tyrant in the person of King James. I had mistakenly believed he must have been a good man, since the first Bible bears his name. Nothing could be further from the truth.  He called himself a Christian and then proceeded to hunt down and kill Christians. He destroyed the Bibles and books they printed because he didn’t want people to know what God had said.
Those faithful few, The Separatists, who separated themselves from tyranny, brought the truth to our shores at great risk. They trusted God and developed a country of laws based on mercy, grace, justice, and truth, and of course, wisdom. It was a good plan. It still is. A plan for freedom; A plan to give us a future and a hope; a government of the people, by the people and for the people; It created a land where promises could be fulfilled. A land where God’s only thought was to be so extravagant in His goodness to this nation that others would see it and be amazed at His care.
What happened?  Did we begin to listen to men who tried to tell us that knowing God wasn’t a “good” thing? Did we begin to listen to those who wanted a broad way and not a narrow way;  People who refused responsibility for their actions and fought against the consequences of those actions?
Why then, has the wisdom that led us so triumphantly been put down? My friend, Wisdom didn’t stop working things out for our good. People who refused wisdom stopped its flow. The book of Romans describes it like this: Professing to be wise, they became fools…they exchanged the Truth of God for a lie. They worshipped the creature instead of the Creator.
In Solomon’s time, he had many decisions brought before him. One day, he is asked to choose between two women each claiming that a baby was hers.  Both had had babies but one baby had died. Now the one whose baby had died wanted the baby from the other woman. It’s eerily similar to what is happening in our courts today. Solomon wisely decides to divide the child in two and give each woman half, knowing that the real mother will choose life for her baby.  The woman, who genuinely loved that baby because she had nurtured it in her womb, chose to protect its life.  The other woman had no care for the child and had no feeling of responsibility for it, and so she is ready to throw its life away. It was all about her. This nation is "our baby". We need to protect its life.  We need a Solomon to lead us with godly wisdom don’t we?
Remember when the Pharisees asked Jesus whether they should heal a man on the Lord’s Day. What was the real issue?  A law that had been very loosely based on God’s law had now lost all semblance of godly wisdom. We need a Solomon to lead us with godly wisdom don’t we?
Before Jesus left the earth, He promised us that as we go out He goes with us. We are not on our own to bring about justice; it’s truly His job. We simply get to be His arms and legs and mouths for the baby that could die, or the people who couldn’t be healed, or the land that is not living up to it's promises.
We get to be Jesus’ voice as we go to the polls, His personal ambassador. Who will stand up for the babies, the needy, and the land? The truth is, it doesn’t end at the polls. The election is only the beginning. The best is still yet to come for America. And it begins today with your declaration of faith.
Being a Christian means we will always be on the battlefront, but it also means there’s a plan, to give us a future and a hope. We may march on our knees but we also have to march with our voices as well as our votes. This is just the beginning.
March on, my friend. March to your prayer closet and get God’s thoughts on this election. March to the polls and vote as He’s given you wisdom. Then keep marching on and take the Truth with you. It's the beginning of a glorious ending.

Power Prayer for America:
Father, Thank you that You have heard our cries, and have activated and loosed every spiritual power in heavenly places so that nothing can separate us from You anymore. We’re tired of worldly wisdom. We want Your gentle, peaceable and reasonable wisdom to rule us again. We don’t want any "Saul's" that looks good on the outside but are empty on the inside. We want men and women who are “giants” on the inside, like David. We ask that You send us leaders with who will be led by Your wisdom. This is Your country. You haven’t forgotten us or forsaken us. We will not be ashamed of our hope in You. The best is yet to come. God bless America.

Let Your Truth keep marching ON!
In Jesus Name.  Amen!
